Hi all, I was hoping some of you technical types might be able to give me some advice.
I bought a new (to me) car at the beginning of July and had a tow bar fitted in with the cost of the vehicle.
During our holiday, which we have just returned from, our indicators on the car kept failing when attached to the caravan. I call out green flag and to my horror the mechanic identified that the tow bar had bolts that were loose and the electrical wiring was not correct for the vehicle in fact some of the wiring was touching the exhaust, there was no audible or visual indicators when the indicators are in use and the fog light wire was not connected. He fixed the loose bolts I was able to continue.
What I want to know;
what are the current legal requirements for tow bar electrics?
and what legal rights do I have with regards to not using the original fitters to correct the work as I don't trust them?

Thanks

Legal requirements are that they work. Thats it.

You need to give them the chance to correct any problems. You cannot just take it elsewhere and expect them to pay the bill.

You either let them sort it or take it elsewhere.

Did they fit a new or used towbar?
