I'm thinking of getting a 2011 Pug partner and wonder how they fit a towbar with the underslung spare wheel. Is it easy to DIY fit.

Anyone know about the electrics. Is it a funny one with Canbus or the like or just simple wiring.

It fits to the outer chassis rails clear of the spare wheel.


Does it have bulb failure warnings?   You should be OK with just a bypass relay.

Check the nose weights of the car and tow bar carefully. I think it is this model where the car has a max nose weight of 75kg but most of the tow bars only have a 60 or 65kg max. It probably won't worry you with the Dandy but it may if you go back to a caravan again.

Just checked Towsure spec for this tow bar and it has a max of 55kg.

Early Mk3 Partner '08 on had only 55kg noseweight but this changed to 70kg around 2010 on.

Thanks, I want to get the later 70kg version but asked the dealer by phone before going to look and he didn't have a clue.

Dandy is only 35kg nose weight as loaded but I prefer the 70kg as the suspension may be more rugged unless its a payload issue.

But doneed to check when I get the towbar. Actually there are 2 versions for the post 2008.

Car noseweight figure is calculated on basis of strength of towbar mountings. Nothing to do with suspension. Reason for increase on later model is due to change in floorpan. If you are only putting 35kg on there it won't matter what version.

More important for 1.6diesel is that you have full service history showing correct grade of oil has been used. If its been main dealer serviced they should have used Total Quartz Ineo 5w30. Using cheap oil or missed service will result in rapid turbo failure caused by oilways blocked with sludge.
