Hi purchased a volvo d5 2007 last weekend,mot dated 15/8/14 showed 103,00
miles same as odometer, previous mot showed 88,000 so tied up,car looks and drives great, however, cleaning the engine bay on sunday found a sticker showing cambelt was changed at 89,000 miles in 2010! so the alarm bells started ringing, found out you can do a mot history check at vosa(wish i had known this before) and subsequently found that the certificate showing 88000 had been falsified and should have been 188,000,so the car has actually done 203000 miles
the dealers phone is permantly off,and the address on the sales invoice doesnt exist, the only name i have for the guy is is first name, which is probably false,if i cant come up with a name and address, trading standards cant help,so it looks like i am going to be stuck with the car, paid £4795 and is probably worth half of that,so be warned,if you are buying a used car, check and check again

You gave me a fright argh So i went on to vosa site and checked previous mileage on mot certs and ...phew relieved mine was a genuine 82 thou on my used 2006 volvo S80 D5...So thanks for waking me up to the fact you can check the mileage
Although Im sorry you didnt have the same outcome. I hope cab and trading standards can help you out. Best of luck
