hello i have been a long time lurker here and would like to thank you all for your great advice, however im not sure how to even search for this on your website so i guess its better to just ask!

im looking at the highline version which seems to have a GVM of 2820kg with a 300kg ball weight and a towing capacity of 3000kg

i only have a normal licence which means im limited with towing, am i right to think i can tow any unbaked trailer with this and still be legal?

also am i right in thinking im not limited by speed if i was to venture back to france with an unbraked trailer?

On a B licence your maximum plated trailer is 750 kg with a GVW of between 2750 and 3500

750 kg plated trailers do not need brakes

I do not know French traffic laws

I might be wrong (as my wife frequently points out), I think if you obtained your licence post-97, the gross train weight has to be limited to 3500 kg, which, with such a large tug, you wouldn't even be permitted to pull my dinky trailer tent. You could always take the test for B & E licences.

With regards to limitless speed limits, I interpret you mean the actual speed limit, not the lower one set for trailers and caravans. Again, (and this is French silliness in the extreme), if the vehicle permits you to go over the 3500kg value, then you are limited to 90kph on motorways.

e.g. A Golf towing a trailer is allowed to go at 130 kph (a la Francais on the abroad forum)
A Range Rover Sport towing the same trailer wouldn't be able to.

I think this is how i've interpreted it, and I was careful, as I am post-07, and had a 2.4-ton car to start with, making me vary wary of what I could tow legally.

Your wife is right again !

With a B only licence the driver can tow any 750 kg plated MAM trailer with a vehicle which has a GVW up to a max of 3500 kg - that makes the possible total 4250 kg

When the trailer has a plated MAM over 750 kg then the 3500 rule is invoked
The 3500 rule it the total of the plated weights which is the vehicle GVW added to the trailer plated MAM or caravan MTPLM

now i understand the weights i realize i can tow a plated 600kg trailer just fine :) [JUST! :)]

the pickup bed will probably be fine, i just wanted to weigh up the pro's / cons for future

once again thankyou all for being so kind on here, lots of helpful advice i would be totally stuck without you all
