We have a swift conqueror 630 2008
We have towed it fine with s max 2.2 auto tdi it tows fine ..We get car from OH work ...s max isn't on scheme...choice of Ford tourneo custom 2.2 tdi or Ford mondeo estate 2.0 tdi ...We know neither will come out as good match..BUT which will do the better job..s max towed it fantastic even though that didn't come out as a perfect match....Help

Ford Tourneo is new shape Transit van based people carrier, yes? With kerbweight of over 2tonnes I would say this would be an ideal towcar for caravan which is twin axle, yes? I can't see how Transit could be a poor match though, it sounds quite a good one. Certainly better than Mondeo

I think we have got to make the most of what we are offered I suppose. ..just don't fancy travelling around in a van ..lol x hopefully next time we will have a better choice 😊 I miss the Discovery !!!

The Tourneo has an elevated driving position just like a Disco.

That's what I'd go for out of the choice between it and a Mondeo...

Hi, I drive a front wheel drive only transit for work grip is rubbish and get wheel spin even in the wet at slow speed and setting off, dread to think what it would be like with a caravan hung on the back.

Work it out for yourself. Front wheel drive van or front wheel drive Mondeo, whats the difference? If you don't want wheelspin towing a heavy caravan buy a Disco.

A builder's transit van overloaded with gear in the back will certainly spin its wheels, a correctly loaded Transit people carrier towing correctly loaded caravan may well do that also as will a Mondy but if its a company vehicle you ain't paying for the tyres.
