Do you mean 750kg?

In that case there are far too many cars available without knowing a lot more details of your needs.

Hi I think the weight you quoted may be unladen weight. The max weight for a 2007 destiny is around 1000k.The older models are 750k

Thank you for your replys.

Yes, I do mean 750 KG (sorry first post and a little nervous). My husband would be using the car to go to work everyday approx 18 miles both ways. there are only the two of us and our dog. We would very much prefer a smaller car but have been told that we would need a biggish car ie- land rover.
It would be 1000kg when laden, we are very new at this and not a clue where to start.
Could you please point me in the right direction, how do we find this kerbside weight ?

Is it braked or unbraked?

Check the chassis plate for the weights.

Our car is only a daewoo matiz, we got the camper because we thought we were getting a bargain and would worry about car later.

A 2007 Dandy destiny is braked. This means when you apply the car breaks the camper also brakes, It makes quite a difference to the weight you are allowed to tow

If it weighs a tonne fully laden then something like a Focus or Astra will tow it. At least 1.6 litre engine, diesel would be better for towing & more economical but if you can only afford a car a few yrs old petrol will cost less to repair.

Check max tow weight of any car you are considering, post details on here if you cannot work it out yourself but any 1.6 manual gearbox Focus or Astra would tow it.

If nothing else, I think we will all agree that your Matiz is NOT suitable.

You now need to look at something larger, and at a minimum of (probably) 1400cc, possibly 1600cc. You need to look at the paperwork for that car and to check that it has a kerb weight of at least 1250kg.

WOW
You are all so well informed, so glad I took the plunge and asked the questions.
I feel that I have learned so much, much more than what i would have learned reading all the brochures etc.I thank you all for your knowledge and time and feel that now if we look for a 1600 poss Focus or Astra with a kerb weight of at least 1250kg, and I also will look at what tow.com, thank you.
I will definately come back on here before we make final decision, I have also learned that our camper is braked. Can't wait to tell my hubby all my knowledge, thank you once again.

Before you tow it any distance either book it into a caravan or trailer workshop or contact a mobile caravan mechanic who will come to your house.

You need a 'chassis service' probably £70-80+parts to service brakes/wheel bearings/lights/coupling. Also if tyres are of uncertain age, ie more than 5yrs old then these should be replaced as well even if they still have plenty of tread.

Also if you have no practical skill/ability to check gas/electrical it would be advisable to pay the extra to get gas appliances/electric to be checked at same time.
