Well well, a bit of difference between the galaxy and the crv. Despite the iffy location of the gearstick it changes easily enough and more importantly changes gear up and down smoothly. 159K on the clock but it came with a full MOT and the cam belt done at 114. It seems Honda were confident enough to allow big intervals between changes. Mind you I despatched on a Honda CX500 with 150,000 miles on it.
It does bounce a bit and consequently the 'van bounces. That I assume is down to the lighter car and very different suspension to a galaxy. A couple of niggles to sort and you have to live with a small fuel tank - 10gallon or so and 20' mpg pulling the tin tent. Over all though, I'm happy. But I know how my luck goes.....John

With the MTPLM: 1180 kgs, why get a crv petrol, when nearly every diesel saloon would tow your van, and more than likely double your MPG
None of which would have load carrying ability from elevated driving position or potentially the reliability of the older generation 2.0 petrol CRVs. My OH ran one for a number of years and was faultless. Great cars and if not towing for that many miles a year 20mpg is a compromise you have to accept

Maybe cugsy wanted a CRV , the diesel engine version would cost more than the 2ltr petrol, and the exrta cost is not always compensated for by this and better mpg taking into account diesel is more expensive than petrol, also not everyone wants a diesel
I have not long swapped my civic for a crv, I don't have a caravan anymore but I am very pleased with the car, plenty of room for the kids and dogs and lovely to drive, I have an automatic 2.0 petrol which seems fairly good on fuel but I don't go that far in it as all our big mileage is done in the motorhome.
Used it to go camping in a couple of weekends ago though and it fitted all our kit in without the roofbox or trailer.
My old honda was incredibly reliable so I hope this one is as good.
Enjoy your honda

Lads and lasses - I don't do much mileage. I prefer my bikes. When the galaxy died I decided a diesel wasn't necessary because I drive less than 5000 a year. The crv was not'd,serviced and had the tow bar. Nothing to do to it but out juice in. We were in a rush for a car for a star party at kelling and it drove nicely and felt 'right'. I can live with a simple car like this even if it drinks like a priest!
I've had bikes that have done over 150k - good oil and often! regards John
