This a question not from me but from my boss's dad...
He has a Volvo XC70 with only single electrics for doing 'trailer only' work at work (has no caravan).
But, when hooked up to a trailer, the fog light on the trailer (any trailer he hooks up to too), comes on whether the engine is running or not, yet the fogs aren't on on the car??
Is this an electrical fault OR, a safety feature with Volvos when hooked onto something?
sounds like the car plug is wired wrong,or another wire is touching the fog light pin. Do all other lights work correctly, my V70 doesn't light the fog lights unless I turn them on in the car. Here is the wiring diagram

If I recall correctly, many years ago the wire used for the rear fog nowadays, was a 12V supply feed for caravan internal lights.
This was in the 80s when we had our first van, as not all cars had rear foglights.
It could be the socket is wired this way-now incorrect?
