We have a bailey pursuit and we have just bought a second hand pyramid tuscany porch awning, we really struggled to put the awning on to the rail, and really really struggled to take it off again, can anyone help, how can we make it easier and quicker to put it up...! We will be watching our 4 and 1 year old as we do it, dreading it already...!
I give the awning rail a quick spray with furniture polish which helps it glide easily. Just make sure the awning rail does not have and bends or obstructions in it which could also make narrow in places. If so just gently reshape the rail.
------------- It is a wise man who has something to say.
It is a fool who has to say something.
Any kind of silicone lubricant is good in the awning rail, something like this.
------------- XVI yes?
As well is two words!
How does a sage know everything about everything? or does he? or does he just think he does?
Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.
And, of course, you need to make sure the awning rail has not been squashed at any point.
Just a small dent will act as a wedge.
You can either buy a tool to open out the groove or gently prize any dent out with a screwdriver

Just a thought - if there is spiders web or leaves or algae etc in the rail it will be almost impossible to pull your awning through it. Maybe try pulling a lightweight awning draft excluding sheet through (if you have one - it goes along the awning rail along the bottom edge of van to stop weather and wind blowing under van and into awning). At least its a lot lighter and you can see both sides of the rail as you try to pull it through. And lube it up as already mentioned.
------------- Why am i doing this instead of camping??!!
Our awning was very difficult to pull through first time, but as has been suggested above plenty of silicon lubricant has made all the difference. Now it is a single handed job.
Bailey also have a habit of leaving sealant in the awning rail. Worth checking if it's like ours it will need a trip to the dealer to clear it all out.
