It would be interesting to see it work in the real world. If using this a third party vehicle is damaged are insurance companies happy to accept the claim or will they try and blame VW? Will VW accept responsibility? Its all new ground and it will take some time for acceptance.

pretty sure in owners book it does state driver must be looking at all times and to take over if a accident looks likely

Agree with Claire and Colin. Seems to take forever trying to straighten up and I can only guess at the wear and tear on the tyres and steering gear with all the steering wheel turning whilst stationary.

Not very automatic as you have to stop it going round the corner before it hits some thing and then make it go straight.It probably went straight through the cones but the video cut back to the driver,what a load of rubbish.
You would still have to learn to reverse to pass the B+E TEST
If you cannot park it don't drive it

I doubt if a company like VW would spend money in the development of such a unit without doing all the appropriate market research.

So clearly there is a market for such an item and what is more to the point, they have such faith in it that they think it will sell more of their cars.

i suppose its like these cars with gadgets that adjust to road and weather conditions and apply brakes or alter drive to each wheel.It just makes poeple drive like lunatics because they think the car will save them from an accident.
