My son has got a flat tyre parked outside his house.
he has arranged to pick up some friends.
No problem , use the pump and tyre sealant.
Sealant does not work
Now what does he do (no spare wheel)
I do the 70 mile round trip for him while he sorts out the flat tyre.
If i did not step in the costs to his friends would have been High, and if it had happened on the motorway
Well i wont bother going into that. or towing a caravan
He is now on ebay looking for a spare wheel
It depends what car you buy. If you want a cool looking suv with big chunky wheels then there is going to be nowhere to put a spare wheel. A more utilitarian car may well have space for a full size spare.
AA/RAC etc, small print state car must have serviceable spare wheel unless spare is not supplied as standard equipment with car. Nonetheless, lack of spare turns inconvenience into major upset so horses for courses.

Plus Gunge must not be out of date
My Hubby drives a company car Qusquai +2. It has no spare, he had a blowout on the M1 a few weeks ago, he had to be recovered by the AA to the nearest kiwi fit . I drive the tow car in the family and I have a full sized spare in my Antara, wouldn't be without when towing the caravan
If you know the tyre and wheel size the local scrap yard is the place to go, most vehicles use the same sized wheels but some have 4 pin some 5 even a space saver will get you out of trouble, but make sure you also get the jack and tools
That repair and the sealant are both temporary fixes. It's not as easy to get a tyre repaired as it used to be. If the damage is anywhere near the sidewall they won't touch it. More often the only answer is a new tyre.
Seems that more cars are coming with no Spare, and the Spare is now on the Optional Extras list!
I think a Space Saver Tyre is a sensible compromise, if only to get you to a Tyre Bay, to have the Punture dealt with.
I would not like to be stuck on the hard shoulder along the autoroute in France, on a Friday afternoon, with a Flat Tyre that the Can of Gunk stuff can't fix.
It would probably be Monday morning before you are back on the road I would imagine.
