Hi all, As a complete novice to caravan ownership i bought a 1996 Twin axle Coachman VIP 500/5 off Ebay at a reasonable price, However i can not for the life of me find any specs on this unit anywhere (only the single axle unit). I was wondering if anybody knew the unladen and laden weights on this van as i would like to know before i have to go and pick it up. My towing vehicle is a Mitsubishi Challenger (also known as the Shogun sport) with towing capability of 2.8 ton and i am a HGV Class 1 driver so i haven't got a problem towing but i really do like to know what weights i am up against if that makes sense. I have asked the seller but he hasn't got back to me.

We've got the '99 coachman genius 500/5, and there's a plate near the bottom of the entrance door stating the MPTLM weight (1300kgs for us) etc.

I wonder if yours has the same??

We have a Coachman Laser twin axle, and the MTPLM is 1800kg.

The Coachman VIP has a much higher spec than the Genius, so could weigh upto 200kg more for the same length/berth caravan of the 1995/6 season.

We owned its little brother the 4berth 460, bought from new and treasured for 5years until a house move and teenagers made us take a break from the hobby, a fantastic caravan, solid built, although still quite basic compared with the Elddis we own today, with a MTPLM of 1249kg.
