We recently took delivery of our 2015 Clubman SE but when we hitched it to our 2013 XF Sportbrake the reverse lights and fog lamps did not work.
The car was checked by the Jaguar main dealer and found to be 100% ok (it also works perfectly with our old 2011 Lunar Clubman and the new Bailey caravans).
The Jaguar has LED lights, the caravan does not.
The caravan dealer changed the reversing lights for LED ones and now they work. But he did not have any LED bulbs to fit the fog lamps which still don't work. He also tried removing one fog light bulb to see if the other worked but that didn't fix anything. A multi-meter showed no power at the bulb socket.
Please does anyone have any ideas?
The caravan is back at the dealers for them to try to fix but as it works with every other car they've tried we are trying every route we can think of to find an answer.
The problem is probably caused by the car's ecu 'seeing' an out of range current to foglamps. The caravan foglamp bulb will be a standard item, it may be a 12v/21w single pole. Direct replacements are available as led bulbs. Google 'led rear fog lamp bulb'.
The dealer (Chichester Caravans in Winchester) changed the indicator bulbs, the foglamp bulbs, the reversing light bulbs and the side high level bulbs from filament to LED.
Hi, I have a xf 3lt and I am thinking of buying a sport brake next year apart from the caravan light problem how would you rate it as a towcar and space wise for putting a damp awning etc in the boot ,I have seen them in my local dealer and had a good look around one or two but it would be helpful to hear from people who own a sportsbrake and maybe get a bit of feedback on using one as a towcar and a everyday car for work ,shopping etc.
We used to have a 3ltr XF saloon that we also towed with but changed it for a 2.2D XF Sportbrake in Sept 2013. It's more economical (30mpg), stability is brilliant because it has Jaguar trailer sway control and self levelling air suspension. The 8 speed gear box is really good and makes for relaxing towing.
The space in the boot is very flexible - there are rails in the floor you can tie things to and of course the split seat means you can fold down as much or little as you need. We changed to the estate car because we knew we needed space when our son got married and we filled the boot with 6 huge boxes of flowers for the wedding, 3 tier wedding cake, cake stand, our clothes for 2 nights away, all the parts to make up a 15ft diameter scelextric set and all the wedding clothing for the best man and his family and the groom's parents!
We also regularly get 50mpg driving the car solo. Things like the electric opening and closing tail gate make life easy as that gate is heavy! Our car has keyless entry and we love that too (we very quickly decided it wasn't the gimick it might appear to be) as when you have hands full of shopping or laptops or grandchildren then not having to fiddle with keys is a great help.
