A quick glance at that website suggests that these are just no win no fee lawyers who have thought up a new way to secure potential business. On could question whether it is actually worth paying for legal expenses at all but as these are no win no fee lawyers they won't really be interested in furthering your case unless they can get a revenue stream from it.
I suppose there is no harm in signing up but I cannot see any difference to going to random nwnf lawyers after an accident.
Its a no win no fee type of system and if they think its too hard they wont help you.
One of the consumer forums ripped their rep to pieces. The rep wouldnt admit that they wouldnt help you if they couldnt make money from the claim.
Eventually the rep stopped posting.
Check the terms and conditions. Its not a win/win situation. Its worth paying for proper protection.
The rep also said it was exactly the same as the paid for service you get with your car insurance, when questioned about helping with motoring offences and legal advice they almost admitted that they wouldnt help.
I took this type of cover out a few years ago with my car insurance. I was hit by an uninsured driver, being comprehensive my insurer paid for the damage. I then asked the legal company to recover the costs from the third party as I felt it unfair that I was claiming against my own policy when not at fault, also they shouldn't be on the road without insurance. The legal company refused to help because they wouldn't make any money. I then complained formally because I had paid £30 upfront for this cover which in the policy document stated £30k of legal fees. At this stage they backed down and said they would help but didn't really do much.
Yes you do get what you pay for. Its always been debatable whether its worth paying for legal expenses cover at all but at as you say having paid you do have some leverage on them but the free cover is no different from going to a nwnf lawyer after the event. Its just a cynical attempt to secure business but they will still decide whether its worth their while to take any case on.
Yeah legal cover is one of those things, You dont want it until you need it.
Boston 600 if you took the legal cover with your policy and paid for it then it should have worked to help you reclaim your losses.
One thing i picked up from the MSE boards is that they insist on which repairer that you choose and claim they receive no commission. I fail to believe they receive nothing at all for sticking to their preferred repairer.
Maybe not called commission but some perk in there.
