Liking all the comments but didn't want it to turn confrontational between you all, and i know you all have your opinions.
Me personally i prefer a larger size car when towing or a larger footprint of car, hence had two estates and a 4x4. So long as the car and van are a match at the 85% weight ratio i have no issues, but towing with a lighter car and nearer to the van weight is worrying, although we did run with the van 100 Kgs lighter when we had the ford as Kerbweight was 1429Kgs (works weigh bridge. So can adapt easily to other weights of car. Its just nice not to carry everything in the car really although poles (Lightweight) and awning normally do go in the boot.
I will be looking more closely at the Insignia and Zafira probably, as like Vx's although the Ford we had was quite good, liked the heated windscreen.
With Vx and Fords dealer ships and service is on every corner, but other makes no so many.
Anyway thanks allm will let you know how we get on.
I had a Skoda Scout for five years 4x4 17 inch wheels 2L TDI I use to forget I had a 1347k Geist van on the back and got 40/42 mpg towing with 54/56 solo on long runs.
Drop back seats down and you could get a coffin in the back.
longest boot I have ever seen. max tow weight 1610k.
People mentioned the Yeti and they will struggle They have never driven 2L 4x4 Yeti or one of the later models which are built with towing in mind.
Permissible trailer load braked 2000k.
