Both `Honest John` and `UK Tow.Com` show your car as having no towing capacity.
If it isn`t on your V5 it sounds like they haven`t bothered type approving that model, if thats the case you can`t `add` a towing limit to your V5.
Not necessarily correct, it is not on the V5 for my 2010 CR V but it is approved for towing, indeed the towbar was fitted by a Honda main dealer and is a "Honda" detachable tow bar
2010 vehicle will have a plate, possibly at the bottom of the driver's B post with all the relevant weights on it. That is the important item and what the Police and VOSA check.
Having a dealer fit a bar does not prove it's legality!!

Why would the manufacturer state towing capacity in tech spec and supply an EU approved tow bar for the vehicle to their dealers if vehicle is not approved for towing?
It may be that one model is approved, and another quite similar one is not. The plate is the only sure guide. What dealers supply or fit is irrelevant. That's like asking a caravan salesman what your car will tow.
if the manufacturer didn't get type-approval, what's to stop the owner fitting a towbar and going through the SVA single-vehicle-approval process as it it was a kit-car or modified vehicle? Just a thought.
