Hi all, i have a S Max tow car, which is new to us. I have just noticed the tow plug on the car is a 13 pin. The 2 plugs on the caravan are both 7 pin. What do i need to join them up. Have had a look on a couple of sites, and
It says for cars with 7 pin atta hing to caravans with 13 pins. Can these go the other way round please?

Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.
You need this adaptor, Halfords or any caravan shop sell them. It is cumbersome & you will have to ensure it does not drag on road.
It would be better to get your caravan cables wired into a single 13pin plug here. You have to hope the 13pin socket on your car is fully wired for battery charging & fridge. Some dealer fitted Ford towbars are not & you may need an extra loom added but caravan road lights will work ok without complete wiring.
I bought a 13pin double plug to12n/12s socket like the one shown on Amazon it pushes in as you twist and you haven't got all the extra cabling that comes with the ones Billy is showing, would show a link but don't know how too so just go to Amazon site and put in 13 plug adapter and scroll down and you will see the double plug adapter

You would need to ensure there was enough room around the socket to push in the adaptor when vertical & twist round until horizontal. The best solution will be to have a 13pin plug fitted to caravan cables.

I never thought of that actually but that's a good point as these compact adapters are more expensive to buy anyway so could be a waste of money if there is restricted space to allow for the twist of the plug. I haven't got one as I have the 13 pin plug with cables to 2 x 7 pin sockets as mentioned.
They are no trouble on the folding camper as you don't actually twist the whole unit it is just a tab that as you move it pulls the adapter into the plug and locks it in, I have been using one for 12 months or more without any problem
if you dont need the grey wire to run the fridge you just need this for the black cable
you could find that the car is not wired for grey cable wiring anyway, count the pins if you have 9 or is it 10 pins, then all you need is the cheaper single adapter, no re-wiring required just plug it in and go. LINK
I have the same as Octavia4x4 has in his picture, simple enough to fit, also bought the 13 pin to 7 pin adaptor for when using my trailer and if I have to tow one of the families vans.
