Hi there, try a search on "caravan autotrader" Search for any caravan at any distance away. on the options drop down click on MTPLM That is the maximum weight caravan you can tow including all the bits and pieces that go in it .Move the slider to 1000 max (it will not go to 900) You will see some older model 2 berth caravans with an MTPLM of up to 900kg and will give you an idea what models to look far
do not limit your travel distance
also try "preloved" and "Gumtree"
Hope this helps Good luck GCB

You are looking for ABI Monza or Marauder mid 80s to mid 90s. The smaller versions are well under 900kg fully loaded. Search ebay, usually a few for sale for well under £1000.

The older ones have toilet compartment for porta potti and newer will have casette toilet. You said you want light so my suggestion was for basic lightweight caravan. If you want showers and water heaters you need a bigger car.

You may be struggling to find a caravan under £1,000 budget with a shower in the toilet compartment actually as they didn't have shower trays or sealed cubicles back in those days. The older caravans were much lighter merely because they have less mod-cons but there's always the option of finding a campsite with a toilet block and showers though which solves the problem.

You can also get the tiny Freedom caravans that are designed to be towed by smaller cars, they will be well within your weight limit, and have one piece fibreglass bodies, that are less prone to water ingress than their traditionally built cousins, some of the later models do have a toilet compartment and shower fitted, but im unsure if they would be within your budget.

We have a Swift Anniversary 360 (1994).  Weighs 730 kg unladen with a MTPLM of 900 kg so would fit your requirements although you'd be at the top limit of your tow rating depending on loading.  Has a casette toilet and shower in the washroom.  They are out there but be prepared to really hunt!  It took what seemed like an eternity when you're excited to find one within budget, then a sound example but patience was the key!!

Look closely at the Freedom vans. Being fibreglass they will last up to 25 years no problem. Traditional built older vans will quite probably have damp issues and will be a riskier buy.

You will get a decent freedom for 1K and only 750kg fully loaded.
