hi looking for advice abouit the heaviest caravan we can tow.At the moment we have an Abbey Vogue GTS 216 but would like a four berth caravan.I've seen an Ace Jubilee Herald on ebay and googled the weight which is 1148 mass in running order but is this too heavy?
You need to supply some more details first whether the Focus is an estate or saloon, diesel or petrol and if the gearbox is a 5 speed manual or automatic.
hi, it's an automatic gearbox and an estate ,petrol. It does have the facility to go over to manual on the gearbox which we have done with our present caravan
Have a look at the list and identify which model Focus you have then look at the towing specifications as it gives the vehicle kerbweight and 85% match but ignore the towing capacity as that figure is supplied by the manufacturer in terms of the towing capabilty and no means a safe match.
However, the difference in BHP and torque output in comparison to the diesel version will be less plus the kerbweight will be less too.
my wife and i have an Abbey Vogue 215gts year 1997 and that weighs in at 1220kg max.
If your towing your van with that focus i would be inclined to recheck your weights as you could be over the weight limit. As for the other van on ebay that will be lighter than what you already have.
