Any have/had one if so what they like. The weight/towing ratio etc not a problem as its a big old beast but just wondering what they are like in general as seem to be some mixed reviews out there about them.
Hi mjjones I have a 2011 Antara and tow a folding camper, I don't even know the camper is there, tows like a dream, I knew the fella that had it before me and he pulled a Eldis caravan and he said what I have said already, as regards the car it is comfortable to drive, goes like a train and you are in an elevated position, downside not to clever on mpg 27/28 towing 30 maybe solo, clunky gearbox in mine not sure about others and of course the dpf filter, but overall a very capable and comfortable car which I am very pleased with.
Mjjones not really if the light on the dash comes on you need to take it on a bit of a run at 2000 or more revs until the light goes out, however we don't do a lot of town driving in the car so only had the light on once and that was in a traffic jam so I sat there reving the car until light went out, got some funny looks because I was sat in the middle lane of the M6 with the camper on the back and I think they thought I was maybe trying to make a quick getaway ha ha other than that the regens have most likely been in the background had our car for 13 months without a problem
I can only re-iterate that ours apart from a clunky gearbox has been no bother at all and tows like a dream, that chap who owned mine previously went and bought a new one so they can`t be that bad, each to there own if you don`t own one cannot see how you can comment for or against.
Hi i have had a 62 plate antara for three yrs now and consider it to be one the best cars, i have ever had. it is comfy, large for a family, tows the caravan like a dream (1300kgs fully loaded) with a 28 mpg return.
Solo driving is a pleasure althought fuel consumption is apalling but considering its a 2.2 Ltr 4x4 approx 35 mpg is not too bad.
Serviced every year and never missed a beat. Will sadly miss it when i have to part with it in a few months
Only had to buy new windscreeen wipers for it, excluding a spare wheel and tow bar.
Other than that a brilliant tow car. Oh and never had any issues with the dpf regen or light on. regen every 600 mls or so for 20 mins apprx. never had to do any of this motorway driving rubbish to clear it. It will do it its self
We have a 13 plate. This is the newer engine, I'm of the female variety so don't know all the tech details , but late 62 plate onwards is the newer engine and tows like a dream. We tow a largish van and get 23mpg in head wind to 32mpg in tail wind. Solo tends to be only long journeys and I have got 40mpg until regen set in. I love the driving position, dead easy to park, I'm a dab hand at parallel parking now!!!!! My old mum with little legs gets in easy. Great boot space.
