I have 13pin plug on my caravan and two seven pin sockets on my car. Have had trouble with two adaptors and am wondering about rewiring the 13 pin plug into 2 seven pins.
Has anybody done this.
I do not want to change wiring on the car.
One way would be to rewire your existing adaptor using much longer lengths of black & grey cable then coil up caravan 13core cable back into A frame somewhere leaving plug in place, connect up adaptor & secure everything neatly with cable ties & caravan will then have reverted back to older twin cable system. Do that & caravan can easily be changed back to 13pin plug if you sell it.
Thanks, I have done that already, left the cables permanently connected. But getting intermittent power to fridge and atc control on caravan. More connections more likely to have a problem I suppose.
Cheers
We had ours changed from twin to single on the car , cost £30 from the mobile caravan service engineer, took no more than 20 mins on site, he was already there to sort out a faulty fridge under warranty,
As both adaptors are playing up I suspect the 13 pin socket on the van. It seems a bit dodgy so will replace that when I can.
I am in Sweden for another 2 weeks or so. Towed the caravan here, took 4 days but a fabulous journey
