Coming into Barmouth, from Dolgellau, you will drop down 2 hills, keep going, it becomes a one way system, past the Royal hotel, then turn left up a small hill follow the road to the junction next to the level crossing, turn right, go about 500 yards turn left and straight out of Barmouth, when you get to the outskirts you will come to one or 2 bends then its plain sailing.if you don't want to go through the centre of Harlech, you can drop down to the low road as you approach.
if you want to take a break, while in Barmouth, just turn left over the level crossing to loads of parking, there is a café, on the right as soon as you cross over. I grew up there, and the road system has never changed, after the storms over a year ago the rail company removed the trains by road on transporters, vids on utube,

If you want to spend a morning or afternoon sight seeing, depending where your staying, turn left or right at the pub in Llanbedr, drive for about 2.5 to 3 miles you will come to a small village, keep going along a straight, then you will come to a junction, turn right go about 600 yards, and turn left over a cattle grid a row of houses on your right, go up the hill to Salem chapel, its normally open, when you open the door straight ahead you will see a painting this painting is of people in the chapel, in the centre is a woman with a shawl on, if you look at the shawl you will see a face with an eye and a beard, the person sat on the right in the small seat is a dummy, they painting is by Port Sunlight, I lived in the house attached to the chapel before moving to Barmouth, carry on up the hill past a large house on the left, pull over into a layby just after a bend and walk across the road to your right through a wood to a dam, a bit further up the road look to your right again thee is a largish flat green area , this used to be a camp site possibly still is, you can stay on this road and turn right further up and it will eventually bring you back to Talabont, you could also visit shell island go over the bridge to the Barmouth side turn right and follow the road across a level crossing and straight on to the aerodrome just at the gate turn right and follow the fence to the sea, there is a causeway at low tide to get to Shell island
