Have a 2005 CRV 2.2 CTDi. Have had it for 8 years now. It tows like a dream, and we have been over to Germany and Poland with it and had no problems. We did see Honda dealers in most big towns, so don't worry about that.
We consider 30mpg to be normal when towing. We have an Abbey GTS Vogue 217.
Don't know about others? But I find that I can't beat cruise control for economy when towing. I always believed that I could drive more economically by anticipating the road ahead and always being at the best speed etc but after several tests, with and without cruise control, I am now convinced that Cruise is best.
I know it's not recommended when towing, but I much prefer the freedom fo move my legs around, relieving fatigue and avoiding being in one position for lengthy periods.

Anyone else?
Not thought of using it for towing but will give it a go, anything that gives greater MPG is worth thinking about. Thinking of the plug-in remapping chip to do the same and a little better performance too.
