The good news is that I do live near an Asda. Bad news is that I am home now but was in Holland last week and paying 0.92p per litre for diesel!!

Bob has a 'thing' about anything with more bhp, more capabilities and more towing capacity than his beloved Skoda-badged VW's.

He sometimes forgets in his enthusiasm that some folks NEED to have a 3500kg-capable 4X4 for their regular towing requirements.

I think I read somewhere that both Porsche and VW make such cars....

Must agree,is there a car besides a 4x4 that can pull an 1800kgs caravan for long periods

Until recently I had a Hyundai i800 . That would quite happily tow a 1800 kg caravan. I decided to change my car and a minimum requirement was seven seats. Skoda don't make a car with seven seats. A new 7 seater 4x4 yeti is rumoured for this year. I settled on a Chevrolet captiva 7 seats , 4x4 and a great family car that suits my needs. I also get around 38 mpg solo , so not that bad.

While at Weymouth two weeks ago tonight I went to the Esso station next to the rail station to fill up for the 375 mile home journey £113.9 per litre
