hi

Im heading from Flamingo land to Great Yarmouth. my route planner has came up with 3 options. Humber Bridge-kings Lynn-Great Yarmouth or head out to A1-kings Lynn-Great Yarmouth or A1-Cambridge-Great Yarmouth

I have no knowledge of any of these roads and in general each looks ok. I will be travelling on a Friday if that makes a difference

Does anyone know if any of these options would be the best.

thanks

A1, A17 past Kings Lynn, A47 straight into Yarmouth - going via Cambridge will take you miles out of your way. Whereabouts in Yarmouth are you going to?

It's up at Hemsby, so you don't need to go right into Yarmouth itself.

Follow the A47 past Norwich and heading for Yarmouth, look out for signs for Acle - you'll come to a roundabout with a BP petrol station on the left, take the second exit signposted 'Caister-on-Sea A1064, Hemsby, The Broads, Caister Castle Car Collection'.

Follow that road through the villages of Billockby, Fleggburgh and Filby - there are two ways you can go from there.

1 - Continue to the end of the A1064, passing straight on round one roundabout, at the second roundabout take the first exit (left) onto Caister By-pass, signposted 'Caister, Holiday Camps'. You'll then see a sign ' Scratby 2, Hemsby 3, Winterton 5'. Continue along that road, go straight ahead at the small roundabout - follow the road right up to Hemsby village, at the mini roundabout by the shops turn right into Beach Road. Take the second left into Kings Loke and follow it round to the camp site.

2 - The shortcut - As you get almost to the end of Filby village on the A1064 turn left onto the minor road Ormesby Lane, signposted 'Ormesby 1, Hemsby 2 1/2 (don't blink or you'll miss it) Follow the road to the end, turn left onto the A149 then first right, signposted 'Ormesby St. Margaret. As you get to the village green turn left and follow the lane right into Hemsby, it'll bring you out by the shops and the mini roundabout, then directions to site as before.

Hope you can make sense of all this and it helps

That's what comes of going there every year - I camp at California just a couple of miles down the beach from Hemsby. The place is like a second home to me and I know the roads so well I could drive there in my sleep And no, I've never used a satnav.

I hope the weather's good for you, when are you going?

If you've got kids they'll love Hemsby - loads of amusements, shops, adventure crazy golf, giant slide, various cafes and eateries etc, there's also a market on Sundays from 9am to 3pm. Parking for Hemsby beach can be a nightmare, there are two car parks - one right by the dunes - but very often full and you'll wait ages for a space, and there are double yellows everywhere else. Much better to leave your car on site and walk down through the nearby bungalows and chalets, it's not far.

If you want a good meal at reasonable prices and away from Hemsby itself I can recommend the California Tavern at California - from the mini roundabout head back down the main road towards Yarmouth, pass a garden centre/Spar shop on your left then a chapel on its own on the left, turn next left into California Road and go straight on until you can go no further, the pub and car park are right there. The site directly opposite is where I stay, you might like to check it out as an alternative to Long Beach if you were ever likely to holiday in that area again.

Np probs, anything else you want to know just shout.
