Multispace as a towing vehicle. It may be of use to you to know that the difference between the 90 HP and 110/115 HP engines is very hard to detect, even when towing. Indeed, the gearing favours the 90 hp , meaning less gear changing on hills, etc. Makes me wonder why I restricted myself to the XTR version of this car, which is/was the only one that ran the higher powered motor.

And the 70kg noseweight is an improvement from earlier models of this vehicle.

Thought you`d all like to know this . . .

Partially why some of the 4x4 style vehicles tow better than expected.

Smaller engines and a taller body shape usually means the vehicle wont be suitable for high speeds, so the gearing is set for say 100mph max instead of 130mph+

Now they can spread the 5 or 6 gear ratio's upto 100mph, so first can be lower to give improved torque for pulling away.

I tow a Bailey Pursuit 400-2 with a Peugeot Partner Teepee 1.6 HDI 115bhp. Caravan is 1150kg MTPLM and car max tow 1300kg. It tows really well.

Has loads of room for all the bits and bobs on site. Means we don't need an awning.

hidehidandygo, the earlier berlingos/partners were 55kg nose weight & 1100kg max tow, but the new shape ones from about 2008 I think were upgraded to 70kg.

There may be the odd one like a small petrol or the 70BHP diesel which is less.

We tow an omega 432 2005 caravan with a Berlingo 1.6 diesel multi space plus, it is fantastic!
No issues on motorway, hills or country roads, boot like a cave and spacious interior which never makes us feel cramped.
I wasn't sure when we bought it, but I LOVE this vehicle.

The van is fitted with a Winterhoff hitch so no snaking or rocking.
Nose weight is 70

I've been towing with Berlingos for yr's. Current one is newish 100bhp diesel. 70kg noseweight as indicated on towbar & handbook. Ok with my 900kg caravan & plenty of luggage space.

1990s 2berth caravans are usually under a tonne fully laden. Plenty of this type on eBay cheap enough. If you are not in a hurry wait until September when season is over & prices drop as demand is less.

Thanks guys now own an Elddis Wisp 350/2 1993 we think.
we went to york some 190 miles from home to buy get it on friday, as we won it on ebay.
We went to a CCC raly in york for friday night, tested every thing and all worked great.
loaded it is 800 kg
nose weight ok as well.
the berlingo towed the Elddis great no probs, they wisped down and up the hills at 60 mph in 5th , only went down to 4th 2 times due to trafic slowing me down lol.

My Berlingo is 2013 and a multispace 1.6 hdi and it states on the Hand book that the 5 seater are 55kg nose weight.
But all the 7 seaters are 70kg nose weight. this is cars aged from 2008 to 2015 +
