Just found a great deal for my Ranger doublecab insurance. Went through compare the market site onto Dial Direct site --excellent price with all the extras on.Underwritten by Covea. Includes RAC breakdown cover.AND free 2 for 1 at the movies!!!! Spreading the joy
Seriously though..the choice of insurers has been very limited for private use pick-up trucks--but I have trimmed £100 of my renewal price. Well worth a look....and No -I dont work for them

I've always thought, when the day comes to change the Shogun, to go down the pick up route.

As I can't see anything that catches my eye at the moment.

Cars these days seem to be built for the 'LOOK AT ME / speed merchant / willy waving contest' generation....

We are considering a pickup in the future, handy to carry bikes etc.Lower road tax I think compared to 4x4 SUV.
We would look at Isuzu Brava or Hilux, happy with Kia for now.

GCMS...totally agree..nothing interests me in the car market. As for speed-you arent allowed to have fun any more in a car.Regarding the willy waving...never tried that one-probably land you with a fine and points. Some great pick-ups to be had. I like the new Ford Ranger and the VW amarok. A £25k shortfall is all thats stopping me.
DaveS the tax on mine was £220 last time (12mth)I searched long and hard, looking at all the different makes.I did like the hilux and almost bought one but it turned out to be an import --there are a lot about. This does cause problems with insurance and severely limits your choice of insurer.Mitsubishi and Nissan all seemed to have engine troubles around the age I was looking for.Absolutely fantastic for towing and can be loaded up as well.

Will check that out when my renewal comes. I have a hilux twin cab   Was fortunate to buy new. And took Toyota insurance as it was the best deal.      It tows a twin axle effortlessly and carries all our gear in hard top rear   Only down side is length. 46ft in all.     Think twice before maneover   Hope to save a few bob with next insurance spend it on more trips
