Hi!
I have just bought a Rapido folding caravan which folds down into a trailer. I wanted to get a bike carrier for the boot of the car so I can take the bikes away when we go on holiday with the caravan but Im confused as to what bike carrier I can use - can you use bike carriers that sit on the boot, I would only be having 2 adult bikes & a childs bike on it. Is it a case of not having enough room when doing sharp turns/manoeuvres? I dont want one on the roof as I want to use the rack when not on holiday & I dont think I could lift my bike up ontot the roof on my own.
You can also get ones that attach to the towbar but I presume you couldnt use this when you have the trailer on the tow...?
Please could someone give me some advise
Many thanks
Alex

We had similar issues with our camper van and Freedom microlite caravan. As a solution we fitted a tow ball to the rear of the caravan and used our existing Thule tow ball mounting bike carrier to take our two lightweight bikes when towing the caravan. On site, we remove the bikes and carrier which can then be used to use on the rear of the campervan for trips off site with the bikes. We had to carefully balance the caravan to ensure the noseweight of the caravan remained in order.
In your case, would it be possible to fit a rack on the roof of the caravan? You could then use a tow ball mount carrier when unhitched. Hope this helps.

I have seen bikes fitted to a bracket on the A frame of a caravan which i wasnt too keen on as you are increasing your nose weight.
I had a similar problem when looking for a rack and after hours of looking the only sensible thing was for the bikes to go on the roof. They are up there out the road, giving you full access to the boot.

Thule 591 bike racks attach to your roof bars and are very good. Ive travelled thousands of miles with 3 bikes on the roof without any problem.

I think you would be better off with something that mounts to the body of the trailer like these: Rapido racks
Would be worth joining the Rapido group on Aimoo for more suggestions (that link is from the group)

There was one especially made for the Rapido Confortmatic. I have one and it is the same one as appears on the original manufacturers advertising brochure. I'm actually selling it at the moment.
