Hi, I am travelling down from Farndon, near Wrexham to Newgale beach in Pembroke this summer.
I am actually towing a 22ft boat but same applies as per a caravan... (Wasn't sure if I should won up to that!)
I do not know South West wales, what is the preferred route?
Wrexham - Bala - Machynlleth - Haverfordwest (A494/A487)
or
Wrekham - Oswestry - Machynlleth - Haverfordwest (A483/A458/A489/A487)
or
Wrexham - Carmarthen - Haverfordwest (A483/A40)
Or any other route!
Same applies as caravans, less hills, wider road and not so many turns!
Many, many thanks in advance. Colin
Hi Colin, I towed from ramsbottom to carew castle and back a couple of weeks ago. Only been the once so can't advise on any other routes but we did A483/A40 with no problems. Bit wiggly here n there but nothing scary. Just take it easy and be prepared to be woken up by a few motorbikes coming g past occasionally ☺☺.
We being towing caravan Wrexham to Saundersfoot and do the following route with no real problems:-
A483 - Welshpool - Newtown then take A489/A470 for Llanidoes, Llangurig, Rhayader and on to Builth Wells with a stop at car park by river (does mean driving round the town)
A483 for Llandovery then A40 for Llandeilo on to Carmarthen. A40 out of Carmarthen to St Clears and then A477 (which has been improved recently)towards Tenby & Pembroke
