I've recently bought a second hand caravan with a winterhoff towing hitch. I've managed to unhitch the van from the car but can't get the handle to go back down. Can anyone advise please? I am getting an alko Hitchcock fitted but would like to use the van again before this work can be done.

You need a ball or something similar in the hitch in order to get the handle down.

We use a `Robstop` hitchlock which comes with a plastic ball for this purpose.

As above you need a 'false' ball to go in that replicates the towing ball on your car.

You can in an emergency feel where the ball fits inside the hitch and push in as you drop handle ( careful with fingers )

As I found out when I bought van took to storage and tried to put Hitchcock on and nobody told me
