Each main manufacturer makes 3 or 4 ranges and then several sizes and layouts within those ranges. The range determines the cost, weight, equipment and luxury level.
Good advice is to buy that make a good local dealer sells well then you will get good support.
2 berths can be 2 berth or 4 berth fixed bed.
2 berth will be smaller but there are several small fixed beds suitable for a couple. A fixed bed is much more comfortable and convenient but means your sitting and washing and cooking space will be slightly smaller.
The space in a caravan is limited, so there will inevitably be a compromise between sleeping, sitting, washing cooking etc and only you will really know where you can compromise.
You can load your car up with the heaviest van you can tow and for short journeys that will be fine. If you want to have a relaxed long distance tow, best to keep the weight well within you car capability. Is the car petrol, if so, it may struggle more on hills than a diesel will.
Your budget will probably stretch to a 6 to 10 year old caravan. You may do well to buy privately and then you may get all the accessories such as awning, water containers etc thrown in.
Have a look round a local dealer and really imagine living in a van, Sitting, going to bed or getting up, washing, showering, cooking etc.
