Its not going to do any lasting damage, its no different from overheating brakes. Clutch plates are no different to brake pads. Some drivers can make them last twice as long as others.

Brakes should be auto-reverse so that they don't come on when going backwards.

Reversing is a skill that is worth learning, you can't leave yourself open to being stuck somewhere and not being able to reverse out.

Also, look at getting a front towbar fitted, makes reversing a caravan so much easier.

Watling Engineering make them for most cars and SU V's.

This front towbar thing always makes me smile. Do you seriously, I mean seriously think that the average caravanner is going to have so much trouble reversing their caravan that they would go to the expense of fitting a front towbar on the average family hatchback or suv? I mean, how much would that devalue the car, for starters?

In between foot on clutch and foot off the clutch is slipping. What you can smell is the friction lining burning.

Ok good answer. So is it if I ride the clutch, I probably do do that when reversing as I have to keep adjusting the wheel all the time. Front towbar is probably worse than motor mover. Learning to reverse is a better solution

Ha made me laugh when its says
"Being able to see where you're going makes it so much simpler"
Then shows the drivers view of a ruddy great trailer blocking the entire view. Sorry but i think i'll pass. New clutch would be cheaper anyway
