its about the norm for that size of van to be honest, most decent 20 diesels can manage no bother

For a reasonably priced towcar, something like a Galaxy would tow it. You would need B+E licence, obviously.

Most large diesel estates will be above that weight. I have a diesel Mondeo estate and its kerbweight is close to 1600kg.
If you passed your test after 1997 you will need to shop around to get one that brings your figures below 3500kg.

Mk3 Mondeo tdci will tow that safely and comfortably and it will fall within the B licence possibilities. I towed a 1450kg hymer with mine fir 7 years. If you have a licence before 1997 then the Mondeo mk4 will also do the job exceedingly well.

For a licence dated 1997 or later you must add together the plated max weight of the caravan and trailer, if the total is 3500 or less you can tow it. You may even tow a caravan with a MAM greater than the cars unladen mass the restriction was removed in 2013

The 85% is a guideline not a legal figure, Just keep the car heavier than the caravan.
A diesel Mondeo will tow it with ease.
