Hi all
Finally seriously looking at getting a caravan. Only looking for a 2 birth, light as possible. Like the look of Bailey Pursuit 430-4 or similar with large washroom at the rear.
I know their are guides to see if your car/caravan matches but I'm finding it difficult finding the kerb weight of my Capture. The only figures I can find in the plates are
MAM 1763kg
GTW 2663kg
MPAW 1000kg
MPAW 0877kg
Renault capture dynamic media nav dci 90 automatic edc 6 speed with dual clutch
Ok rooting around the web, seems to be conflicting reports, though 900kg max towing weight braked seems common. Guess I need to look for a caravan in the 750kg range??? any ideas on makes similar to the Bailey in layout, second hand
Yep 900kg max, Make sure you check the caravans gross weight as some sellers seem to mention the unladen weight and say your car will tow it fine as they used a pushbike once.
Unless you want a cheap 1990s 2berth off ebay like an ABI the only modern ones will be imported like Freedom or the smallist Eribas, Puck or Familia. Older Eribas are a bit lighter. A 90s Triton should come under 900kg all up. If you want luxury like large washrooms, you need a bigger car.
Most 1990s 2berth, 12ft bodies would be under 900kg all up, but small caravans are not so popular nowadays due, I suppose to more powerful engines and even the smallest caravans from the main UK makes are well over that now.
That's basically the Dacia Sandero with a few extra bits thrown in, along with slightly different body pannels

You should be able to tow so as not to exceed the GTW of 2663kg. So as long as you don't load the car or caravan so the combined weight exceeds this you should be OK.

Navver is looking at the 400-2, not the 430-4, and as I said above the 430-4 is actually plated higher by some 70kg due to what were originally extras now included as standard.
We used to have a Trigano Silver, great caravan, MTPLM 1000kg, BUT with just 90bhp, even that would be a struggle to tow.
