Hi all.
Currently toying with the idea of changing my car and would appreciate and ideas as to suitable vehicles.
At the moment i am using a 57 Plate Rav 4 2.2 D4D.
Great stable towcar which i have used for the past four years.
My current van is a 2015 Bailey GT65 Verona with a MTPLM of 1448 kg which the Rav4 copes well with.
Currently looking at the New CRV although the 1.6 engine concerns me a little ,Rav4 ,Mazda CX5 or even the new Mondeo with the 180 bhp engine .
Would really appreciate input from anyone towing a similar sized van with any of these vehicles or recommendations for others to consider.
I'm looking at changing my car at the moment as well, i looked at the crv but could only get the 120 BHP front wheel drive, so wrote that one off.
It looks like i'll be ordering the mondeo, i currently use a 2011 140 bhp Titanium x and tow a 1560kg coachman with it, it pulls no problem and is a brilliant stable tow car.
on a weigh bridge it weighs in at 1705kgs the new model is 20kgs heavier so i'm expecting the same kind of stability if not better.
I do like the look of the Mazda CX5 thats also a very heavy car.
On yet another Mondeo myself, the diesel models are more relaxed when towing, less gearchanges.
With the petrol ones i would drop a gear when coming to the steeper hills to maintain speed. The diesel just pulls with no need to change gear.
