We have just changed our car and it is fitted with a single 7 pin socket and the caravan is the 13 pin .
there are 2 types of adapters n type and s type not sure which to buy or are we better having the electrics re done
well if it's just one 7 pin it will be the black one,This is what is usually used, but as you see is for the black and grey plugs to 13 pin. Grey plug carries feed to fridge and battery. May be better to get car changed to 13 pin.

You can get a 7pin socket to 13pin plug adaptor. If you use that then caravan road lights will work but you will have no caravan battery charge or fridge working while towing. If you get a fully wired 13pin socket fitted to car then everything will work.
To eliminate any potential connection problems with using adapters, a 13 pin connection is a better option, a dedicated wiring kit for your car is relatively easy to fit and is complete with all relays and correct connections.
