Hi all, I'm looking for a bit of advise really. This year on our way to France for our summer jollies we had a problem with our freelander 2 that would have put a end to our trip had I not taken out red pennant insurance. Now next year we want to go to the South of France again but we have lost a bit of confidence in the car, especially as it would need to drive 2500 miles without fault so I was thinking about using my Renault Trafic crew cab van instead. This would enable me to take the bikes and a extra fridge that we desperately needed but most of all it still has 3 years manufacturers warranty left on it so we would have that extra peace of mind.
Now has anybody towed with one of these before and how did it go? We have a 2015 swift challenger sport 586 that weighs 1550kg max so I'm sure it would cope absolutely fine. Also did you get portrayed as a gypsy everywhere you went? It is a nice silver colour with colour coded sport exterior with alloy wheels so it's not exactly your usual builders van.
Any Insite to how it tows and how you got on in France with a crew cab / caravan combo would be much appreciated.
Dunno how it tows but you won't have any probs in France with it arriving at campsites & so on. Plenty of other nationalities, particularly Dutch use similar tow vehicles.
I must admit it is brilliant to drive, I used to have a 2008 version that had 15000 of the clock but I never towed with it. We did see quite a few Dutch vans towing over there this year and some of them were sign written. I must admit I wasn't 100% sure if they were working or on holiday, hopefully the latter. I think I'll be getting a tow bar fitted and looking at ferries very soon although it would be nice to use over here also but I don't think the English sites would allow it!
Thanks very much for you replies it's much appreciated!!

I've raised the same question regarding acceptance on sites with vans. Recently been on a Caravan Club site, prior to booking I phoned regarding the van and was told I would have no problem with the caravan club, and that was the same reply from 2 different site wardens and my van has no side windows.
I would think you'll have no problem with the crew cab.
