As well is two words!
How does a sage know everything about everything? or does he? or does he just think he does?
Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.
We owned a Jeep Patriot and had no end of bother with it, two ball joints, differential then third and fourth gear synchromesh was the final straw at only 30.000k.
We traded it in after having it fixed.
Great looking vehicles but do your homework if you want to keep some cash in your account!!!
Google gearbox problems with Jeep and see for yourself.
PS
The compass shares lot's of parts of the patriot inc the gearbox. The same gearbox issues also plague the 2013-14 Cherokee. Think it was the auto in particular that was having issues.
Yes you guessed, very down on Jeep mostly because the car itself was my ideal vehicle and I was so disappointed.
Fur coat and no knickers.
Don't know a great deal about the most recent renegade.
Thing also was how many old Jeeps are about. They must have been made quite differently.
Well my compass was a manual. I traded it in at 34k miles and 4 years old so can't comment about the gear box. As I mentioned I changed a suspension arm because the ball joint was shot but that could have been due to me hitting a rock quite fast whilst doing some impromptu off roading. But the parts seemed inexpensive. I recon £200 for a bumper is quite reasonable it was quite a big part of the rear end.
I had the door lock replaced under warranty because the dead lock jammed. Another common problem. I also had a loose starter motor cable (which I fixed myself) and a bad connection on the glow plug feed (which I fixed myself).no new parts were required to fix these things.
I had a Wrangler for a couple of years,2.5 petrol. It was fun but apparantly the 4.0 litre is better and not a lot thirstier.
Only problem I had was a shock absorber going. I just fitted some aftermarket ones.
It was a bit bouncy and noisy but good with the roof down!
------------- DS-There's more to life than football!!!
That reminded me also as we too had to have the door lock replaced as it stopped working. That does not seem much of an issue but no keyhole in drivers door to get in had me having to get in through passenger side.
Both Ball Joints went on ours (common fault) it stripped the inside of the 8,000 miles tyres we just had fitted. looked like slicks on the inside edge.
Differential went.
The alternator started to whine up through the gears.
Some done in warranty other were out of warranty. Gearbox was the final straw.
I often said that the radio volume control knob was the most used thing as either me or my wife would regularly turn it down and say
"did you hear something"
In the end it was not to bad as the car just drove itself to the dealers.
