I’ve just taken delivery of my new Mondeo this afternoon so I thought I’d chuck it on the weigh bridge at work and see what it comes out at

Model 2ltr Titanium x Hatchback with panoramic roof (no tow bar fitted yet)with 25% fuel = 1770KGS

My god I knew the new model was heavier than the outgoing model but I didn’t expect it to be that heavy, hopefully these figures will help someone going forward

Thats pretty good, what does log book put it at?
Unfortunately can't afford one so still looking at previous model and passat.

I dont have the log book as its a company car max tow is 2000kg ( i wouldnt tow or recomend anyone to tow at that weight though)

My van weights in at 1560Kgs so its a great match for me.

Your vehicles kerbweight of 1770 still only gives you a 85% safe towing weight of 1504.5kg.
Will adding a tow bar increase the cars weight sufficiently ?

It really isn't that critical, 85% is just a guide & a sensible suggestion that trailer should be a bit lighter than tow vehicle.

Max tow is 2000kgs so gives a good indication of cars ability. Ratio with your van is 88%, it will be totally fine IMO.

Hi Nutkins i'm ok with the % of weight i'm running at, this car is actually 65Kgs heavier than my last one.
i've posted the weight to inform people of the true kerbweight as apposed to the 1578KG's thats in the brochure
