The 'battery line' will mean the caravan specific part of towbar wiring which you will need if you want you caravan fridge to operate & caravan battery to charge while towing. If you can do without that that then 7pin wiring for just road lights will do & save you £195.
2006 caravan will have twin 7 pin plugs, 2008 onwards is fitted with single 13pin plug that does the job of both. If you have 13pin socket fitted to car then older pre '08 caravan can be easily modified to have both leads wired into single 13pin plug. Or of course you can use adaptor which is cumbersome & you need to ensure does not drag on ground.
If only want single 7pin socket on car for road lights then your 2006 caravan can be towed with black plug in use & grey plug stowed.
It is possible though that dealer supplied wiring for either just 7pin or full 13pin electrics is only available in the current 13pin push&twist format. If that is case then easy solution is convert your caravan to 13pin plug as described.
Caravan battery will charge if caravan is hooked up to mains. If caravan is not used over winter then it's good to remove battery & charge monthly with smart charger.
It depends how you are using caravan. If towing long distances most will like to have fridge working while towing & if you are stopping on site without ehu then handy for battery to charge when you tow away from site. If you have motor mover & use it for hooking up at start of tow then battery charging while towing will ensure mover works when you reach destination.
Any of that & you need full electrics fitted to car.
However, if you are not worried about fridge & only stop at ehu sites then unless you have motor mover fitted there is no need for a battery at all & no need for full electrics on car.
I was also stunned that Honda can charge such an enormous sum to fit this cable. I believe that a towbar fitted to British Standard spec with either a 13 pin or 2x7 pin plugs HAS TO have the 12 volt feed to the van, so assumed that the Honda bar with the 13 pin plug would comply.
Apparently not!
When I asked if I needed the extra 12 volt feed if I didn't have the Alko active stability system I was told that without it the fridge and battery on the caravan would not be connected. The argument given was that the rest of Europe do not feed power to the van from the car so this is an extra for the British market!! I was also told that the charge is set by Honda UK and the dealers hands are tied.
Well done Honda!
The 13pin push&twist plug & socket is becoming standardised throughout EU. Eventually, it it ever happens even trailers & bike racks will be sold with push&twist plugs, same size but with only 7pins & the current 7pin 12n plug/socket will be discontinued. The grey 12s plug/socket was only ever used in UK.
The main dealer supplied towbar wiring usually comes with a 13pin push&twist socket because same wiring is supplied throughout Europe including UK. A separate loom is usually supplied for full 13pin operation.
While most continental caravans do not come with battery as standard, plenty of foreign caravanners fit movers etc & batteries are fitted along with full 13pin wiring. There is no British standard, only EU standard.
There have been threads in the past on here with complaints about 13pin socket wiring fitted by main dealers having not included the extra wiring & as fitted only runs caravan trailer road lighting. This is because of car salesmen knowing nothing about towbar wiring. Customer has requested 13pin socket & salesman has been unaware extra loom is required at extra cost for full 13pin operation.
It sounds like we were lucky to have chosen Gilder Honda as our dealer, the Manager there when we bought our CRV was a Caravan Club member himself, and had a vast knowledge regarding the cars capabilities, and the requirements of fitting a towbar and electrics for our 13pin caravan.

I had a problem when I had the Honda towbar fitted to my new CR-V 2.2 I-DTEC EX. The smart relay supplied with the Honda wiring was only rated at 15amps. Consequently, when I connected up the fuse to pin 9 in the wiring blew. The Alko ATC is wired to this and the total drain can exceed 20 amps. After much to-ing and fro-ing, Honda agreed to pay the dealer to wire pin 9 directly from the battery via a 20 amp fuse and by-pass the smart relay.
Our caravan is fitted with the Winterhoff system, so no problems with any Alko ATC wiring problems, but its something to consider for the future should we ever come to change our caravan, and find similar problems to those you describe Robbie.

I now have the car, and a lovely looking beast it is too, so have been able to read some of the 490 (!) pages of the handbook. Apparently you can switch off just the rear parking sensors by following a button pushing exercise outlined in there (page 347 in mine).
glad you like the car Tuggit. We got one in Nov and really love it have only used it once to tow the caravan so far. Its good that so many ppl on here rate its towing capabilities.
