I've had both on various cars and there are a couple of things to consider I guess. Vehicle specific (canbus) will ensure any computer based trailer control system works and reverse sensors are disabled (if fitted).
If my car didn't have those id probably not bother with specific wiring and save the £130. A decent fitter will fit a reversing byass anyway.
Never had specific wiring and never had any problems. Oh and all computer based trailer control systems worked fine.
------------- XVI yes?
As well is two words!
How does a sage know everything about everything? or does he? or does he just think he does?
Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.
"Oh and all computer based trailer control systems "
Are you taling about the car or the caravan system?
Just to clarify, I'm talking about the systems fitted to some cars that modify the braking and ABS systems slightly, not the caravan (eg ATC). I'd be interested to know if the car ones do in fact work without dedicated wiring because I've been led to believe that they do not.

From several comments on one of the Skoda forums that certainly does NOT apply to Yetis's.
