Can't help with the automatic but we've just changed to a manual, encouraged by lots of positive comments on here, and so far are really pleased with it, how it drives, how comfortable it is, the equipment levels and the service we had from the dealer.
Hi, we switched from an XC90 auto to a new Kx4 Sorento Auto last September. We've been delighted with the car, it's smooth, quiet and pulls the caravan effortlessly. We get about 35-40 mpg solo and 25 towing.
We've recently undertaken a couple of trips in 50mph winds and have been impressed with the stability of the car.
We have the Hyundai Santa Fe Auto which is basically the same motor as they share all the same parts.Tows excellently, we previously had a Sorento Auto but changed to Hyundai as we were able to get an Auto easier than we could an Auto Kia.
We had our since August and love it. As I've said before this is the first car I will fight my OH to drive. Had autos in the past and hated them but this is a dream. (I don't tow though), but we have a Swift conqueror 645 twin and OH says it's a dream.
I would thoroughly recommend and OH is on the forum and people are always saying how good they are rectifying things under the warranty.
I'd say go for it, I'm sure you won't regret it.

We have a 2014 2.2 auto have towed for approx 6000 miles as far as Venice. Great tow car and fairly good mpg, about 25/26 towing. With cruise very relaxed and overall a great tow car. Previous car was a Volvo S80.
We are in Australia at the moment, with a rental campervan.
Our nieghbouring camper has a Sorento Auto which he rated highly.
There are a lot about. They definitely prefer autos here!
