Hi, I know it's been probably asked hundreds of times on here but I have £1500 and not a penny more to spend on buying a car good enough to tow My Abi Viceroy Jubilee.
Would ideally prefer a 7 seated but I appreciate I'm not going to get anything very special for £1500.
I have been also looking at either a Volvo v70 diesel or a Mondeo estate, or a Vauxhall Omega estate.
Caravan is 1000kg weight? Max 1300 kg?
Any advice on what to buy or any other vehicles to look for on EBay would be of great help Thanks.

You could buy a I.9 Skoda Octavia TDI estate which would tow your van no problem.
I used a 55 Octavia hatch back to tow a 1347kg van for 3years and never had an ounce of trouble.
just serviced as required.

same car now local taxi has done close to 300,000 miles and still looks like new I know owner/driver who bought off me who says he just changes oil, tyres and filters as required still on same clutch.
Only thing bought was set of imitation leather seat covers as fabric was getting a bit tired. PS still has tow bar fitted

Mondeo would be a good choice.

Your caravan is exactly the same weights as mine and I tow with a Volvo V50 (2.4 diesel) which is probably cheaper than a V70 but with less luggage space at the rear. However, you really need the 2.0 ltr. diesel at least which would give you a match of around 88%. If you look for one with high mileage and full service history you may possibly find one at the right price. My second choice was a 2.0 ltr. Skoda Octavia estate which again would be capable of towing the weights as mentioned depending on the model as there is an Octavia 4x4 scout but most probably out of the price range you are looking for.
