Hi I have a compass omega 400/4 shadow Ime towing with a vw bora
I am looking at nose weight indicaters on eBay they start at £10 and go to £100 my max weight on nose is 85kg so I read when loading I will not be taking much so what would u recommend about loading and what would u buy regarding a indicater cheap or expensive ??
i use bathroom scales and a piece of wood.more accurate i thinks. 85kgs on a vw bora tow bar, your back end will be very low, 60 - 65 kgs heavy enough.
Milenco are very good accurate noseweight gauges. My car has a max noseweight limit of 75kg and that's what I balance my Compass to, just a matter of load distribution in the caravan.
Check your car handbook in the technical section. Done a quick check on Caravan Club matching service, example 2004/2005 1.9TDi Bora is 75kg, but check this.
I can confirm that on the Volkswagen Bora from 1999 - 2005 on both fixed and detachable towballs, the vertical load (towball weight limit) is 85 kgs.
I have used several noseweight gauges in the past but find that the Milenco is the best.

i could not find a nose weight gauge that would read over 100kgs. thats why i use digital bathroom scales. my caravan is a single axle, 1800kgs.
If you look at the Milenco product link below, in the 5th paragraph it states that the Milenco noseweight gauge scale goes up to 130 kgs. It is also calibrated and guaranteed to be accurate after a 1000 uses. That's why it's probably the best on the market.
Unless its a calibrated gauge then dont bother. A decent set of bathroom scales will be far more accurate compared to a non calibrated noseweight gauge.
If you use scales make sure you put a thick strong board on them first. I broke a set many years ago by using a piece of wood and not spreading the load.
