I am looking at a 2010 (newer shape) Mondeo Titanium 2.0l 140 Hatchback which is Auto. I have tried to look online everywhere but I cannot find the MTPLM of the car so I can look for the relevant Caravan.
I passed my test after 1997 so am within the 3.5t rule. Although I find this ridiculous as I have D and C Entitlements.
You need to find max gross weight of car. This the max loaded weight. The figure will be in car handbook. I think it's about 2.25tonnes so with just a B licence you can tow a caravan up to around 1250kg mtplm which is within towing capacity of car. You need to find exact weights obviously.
Have a look at parkers.co.uk click on cars at the top and follow then select youy vehicle then facts and performance, kerb weights are listed for most cars. My 2010 Mondeo Titanium 2.0 TDCI hatch manual gearbox kerbweight is listed as 1557kg as is also listed in other publications
Evening Chris ,
I have a 2010 2.2 Titanium x estate and find it an all round good tow car. I have since had mine remapped by Superchips and found that it noticeably improves the performance and fuel especially when towing.
I fell into he 3.5Tonne trap when changing from a mk3 to mk4 mondeo due to a higher mtplm on the newer model and ended up having to do the B and E test.
Good luck if you choose to do the test and enjoy the car.
