Have a look on the weight plate on the car and in the car handbook. You want a caravan with a max weight (MTPLM) of 85% of the kerbweight of the car.
Your car is fairly light and low powered so you will be restricted to quite a small caravan. What year is the car and is it manual or auto?
Rob
PS I've just found a listing for a 2008 from 2015 on with a 75 bhp engine, this has a max tow of 940 kg. This would allow you to tow a lightweight caravan from the eighties or early nineties as most modern caravans are far too heavy for the car.

Hi Dan, in this case it looks like the car has a max tow of 940 so that must not be exceeded. Check the weight plate on the car, the third weight is the gross weight of the car, the fourth weight is the gross train weight which is the total max of the car and caravan added together. Subtract the max car weight from the max gross train weight and this will give you the max weight you can tow, hopefully in this case 940 kg. If this figure is lower than 940 it means you can not tow 940 kg if the car is fully loaded. Have a look at the weight plate and come back with the figures but it certainly looks like you will be restricted to an older caravan or perhaps you would consider a trailer tent or folding camper which would be lighter.

Hi Dan, at least you know where you are regarding weights etc. We have nearly been caught out several times when looking at cars, especially French cars, which list a max tow weight but hide the fact that if the car is fully loaded you can not tow such a heavy trailer.
Our first caravan had a max laden weight of 840 kg but that was a 1982 model. We had a 2000 model 2 berth which had a max of around 1150 kg so as you can see the weights crept as as more and more equipment was fitted. I don't know of any new caravan that would come in to your weight restrictions so I think you could look at early nineties models but not much later than that.

You could tow an Elddis Xplore 302 MTPLM 929kg or one of the Freedom caravans, 750kg.
