Hi I am new to caravaning never towed b4 looked at a a few different cars for towing a Swift Challenger 4800 with a fully loaded weight of 1387 kg.I seem to get different kerb-weights for the same car and am a bit confused so could anyone suggest a suitable match. Thanks for any help and comments.

Difficult to advise without any suggested budget for the car. A used current model 2litre Mondeo would do the job but a new Disco would be better.

Hi thanks for the replies yes I do mean Challenger 480 sorry. Looking to spend 8 to 10k looking at Passat estate but seems a bit long, possibly the Octavia or Honda CRV all comments welcome.

Vauxhall Antara maybe. Great tow car.
We looked at the VW Toureg too it but wasn't heavy enough for our Swift 566 but should tow yours.

Octavia's may be a bit too light unless you get a 4x4 variant or Scout. My 2012 Octavia estate 2.0TDi 4x4 has a mass in service of 1,495kg so giving you a tow ratio of 93%.Standard Octavia's are around 90/100kg lighter. It also has a GVW of 2,095kg so you will be under 3,500kg (3,482kg) and OK with a 'B' driving licence.
You could also look at the Skoda Yeti or even the Superb.
