not in my case, i bought a vw caddy van that was cat d, saw the pics before the repair was done, never affected my insurance.
my wifes last car was a cat d picasso, the premium was higher than if it wasnt damaged. the repair was minimal i had the car checked over before buying.
I used to buy do up and sell damaged cars when i was younger, i once bought a stolen recovered astra GTE in the early 90's it had no locks and ignition, wheels, interior ,glass, and had been hit up the rear, at the time that was classed as a cat d car 
That is not correct. I work for an insurance company. We don't ask if it's category or not.
miss Baritone you dont have to ask the question, as soon as you put the reg no in the quote the insurance company then lknow the history, thats how they stop cars from being on the road that shouldnt be. It may of changed now but that was the case 3 years ago.
