I currently have a ford grande cmax 2013 and we are looking at purchasing a swift 570 charisma 2004. Will this car tow it .

Which engine and gearbox does your car have? What is the max weight (MTPLM) of the caravan? If the max weight of your car and caravan are over 3500 kg does your licence cover you?

1.6 engine gearbox it is manual 6 speed caravan is I think 1150 and car and van is under 3500 and hubby is a hgv driver so ok

Is it petrol or diesel? 1150 sounds low for a 570 caravan, is that the MRO (empty weight)? You need the max weight of the caravan to work out the towability. You could also look at the weight plate on the car to get the max towing weight.

I suspect that the caravan is too heavy for the car but without the full information I can't be sure.

A quick Google says that caravan has an MTPLM of 1487 kg and MRO of 1169.

If your car is petrol it probably has a max tow of 750 kg and if it is diesel it will be 1200 kg so the car will not be suitable.

Assuming that you need 6 seats as you are looking at a 6 berth caravan I would go for a Galaxy or S Max with at least the 2.0 diesel engine. We had a 2.0 auto Galaxy and it was a very good tow car with a kerb weight of 1750 so your Charisma would come in at around an 85% match.

There are lots of threads on this forum about car suitability, it might be worth having a look back through some of the other posts.
