Hello
Heading off to mid Yorkshire Dales soon and trying to plan the route from Mansfield to near Buckden B6160,keep looking at different options.
1) A1 through Bedale and then Leyburn and south on B6160
2) A629 through Bradford to Skipton then North on B6160
3) or through Harrogate then A59 to Skipton, then again north on B6160
Been trying to look on google maps and but it's taking forever to check for any problems when towing does anyone have any experience?
Thanks Martin
I'd go straight up a1 to Bedale then across so option 1.
We live in Queensbury, Bradford, so a629 is best route for us to dales, we only have to negotiate Keighley. If you used this route you'd be passing through Huddersfield, Elland and Halifax city centre which could take a while.
Harrogate is ok as long as it isn't a Saturday, but don't pass through Knaresborough from A1 if don't need to, quite narrow main street.
------------- I went to the top of the mountain...and looked over the other side!
Just got back , made the mistake of following sat-nav pat Bolton Abbey rather than to Skipton on way there!
Through Skipton on way back and then hit traffic snarl ups all way home😂
Thanks
